Advice to new Pepperdine grads: Creatively and intentionally develop purpose, service, and leadership in your work. It's possible to be a self-centered worker in the nonprofit sector, just as much as it's possible to be an accountant or marketing exec living out selfless service. Don't let assumptions about your industry or seniority limit your intentional cultivation and application of core values and character. What would you add?💙🧡 🌊

Yesterday, I had the privilege of discussing the next steps with recent graduates as they prepare to embark on new adventures after university. Their enthusiasm was truly inspiring!Having graduated myself just last year, I recall the mix of excitement and uncertainty that comes with this transition. Here are some tips for new graduates:✨ Explore Opportunities: Keep an open mind to industries and roles to discover your interests.✨ Network Wisely: Build connections with alumni and professionals on platforms like LinkedIn and through events.✨ Continuous Learning: Embrace growth opportunities through online courses and workshops to enhance your skills continually. There is always room for improvement. ✨ Seek Guidance: Finding the right opportunity for you can be challenging so, don’t hesitate to seek career advice and support. Leeds Trinity University offers graduates up to three years of career support following graduation. For more information, reach out to careers@leedstrinity.ac.ukCongratulations to all the graduates!🎓🥳Your journey is just beginning, and I look forward to seeing your successes unfold.#LTUCompleted

Milestone Reflections! Today, a rare sunny summer’s day, I had the pleasure of attending two lively graduation ceremonies in Coventry cathedral. In the process, I realised that this summer is the 40th anniversary of my own graduation, and inspired by the happy graduates embarking on a brave new world of work or further education, I offer the following reflections based on 40 years of work/life experience and ten key points that I have learned the hard-way!1.Set yourself personal goals, review them frequently, and manage your own personal outcomes.2.Trust your gut instinct.3.Everything happens for a reason.4.Keep your options open.5.Be kind to the people you meet on your way up.6.Work to live, don't live to work.7.Make time for family and friends, they are (should be) constants, work is transient.8.Frequently reflect on what you've achieved outside work and celebrate it. 9.Set life goals to achieve, then monitor and deliver them!10.Notwithstanding the above, be adaptable, remember God laughs when people make plans!
